Gramps Graph View Profiles - Install

Manual installation of Gramps Graph View Profiles for Gramps 6.0.

Installation

Installing Gramps Graph View Profiles is straightforward and only takes a few steps.

Requirements: Gramps 6.0 and the Graph View add-on.
Tested platforms: Gramps 6.0.8 on Windows 11 and Zorin OS 18.1 Core. macOS has not been tested.
  1. Close your family tree and exit Gramps.
  2. Open the following folder: C:\Users\<your-name>\AppData\Roaming\gramps\gramps60\plugins\GraphView
  3. Rename graphview.py to graphview.py.bak.
  4. Extract Gramps-Graph-View-Profiles-V1.0.zip into this folder. The archive contains five files.
  5. Start Gramps, open your family tree and select Graph View.
  6. Open Configure → Profiles and enable the profile function.

Optional Danish translation

The download also includes addon.mo, which provides the Danish translation. This file is optional and must be copied separately.

  1. Open the following folder: C:\Users\<your-name>\AppData\Roaming\gramps\gramps60\plugins\GraphView\locale\da\LC_MESSAGES
  2. If an existing addon.mo file is present, rename it to addon.mo.bak first.
  3. Copy the supplied addon.mo file into the folder.

Original settings backup

The first time the profile function is enabled, the current Graph View settings are automatically saved as the original settings backup. This backup is never overwritten.

Family-tree backup

As with any add-on installation or update, it is good practice to make sure that you have a recent backup of your family tree.
