Save and restore Graph View settings in Gramps with profiles for repeated views, PDF workflows and family-tree startup.
Why this project exists
The idea for Gramps Graph View Profiles came from a repeated practical task.
For each family tree, I create between 10 and 14 different PDF files based on what is currently displayed in Graph View. Each PDF requires its own combination of people, generations, layout, colours, spacing and other display settings.
Previously, preparing each view meant following a long set of written instructions and changing the Graph View settings manually. This was time-consuming and made it easy to overlook a setting.
With saved profiles, the required Graph View setup can now be restored simply by selecting the appropriate profile. The graph is prepared consistently and is ready for the next step in creating the PDF.
When several family trees are used, each tree can also open with its own preferred settings or profile. This is where the startup controls become especially useful.
